Please join us as we welcome Mr. John Zoll of Queens Criminal Court one more time at the New York Public Library, Muhlenberg Branch!
After FSN members give a brief overview of human trafficking, we will hear Mr. Zoll speak to us about what one court in Queens is doing to address trafficking of young women into prostitution: “one local criminal court’s response to young girls who have been forced into prostitution or who find themselves in that life; what steps have been done to effectuate change in their life; what services have or are being provided to them to move out of that life; a discussion of the obstacles to get out and how they got in, or are kept in, the cycle of that life.” He will also share with us a couple of success stories.
Mr. Zoll was a defense lawyer in Queens for 13 years who handled hundreds of prostitution cases involving women who were trafficked which was an unknown fact at the time. Most recently, he has been working with Judge Fernando Camacho of Queens Criminal Court on helping take a different approach toward the “prosecution” of these cases and setting up services to help these women controlled by pimps.
